Melville Heights & Melville Gardens
Melville Heights was a huge success, so much so
that when the owners decided to build Melville Gardens (a second
building on the site), BMR was once again chosen for the job.
For the structural framing of Melville Gardens,
BMR chose cast in-place concrete foundations and a two-way reinforced
concrete slab at the main floor level. Wood stud load-bearing
walls and a combination of wood-I and sawn lumber floor joists
were used to frame the upper two floors and the roof. The building
also has two passenger elevators and extensive parking area in
the basement.
The result is two impressive buildings overlooking
Halifaxs Northwest Arm. Thanks to their impeccable facilities
and superior design, Melville Heights and Melville Gardens have
quickly become premier retirement facilities.
